Total Gym Accessories That You Should Have

Although there are many total gym accessories, here are a few that you really should have. They will eventually grow to be favorite accessories. Here are a few of these accessories:

These are just some of the best total gym accessories. Of course, your accessories will depend on your routine and what muscle areas you are concentrating on at the moment; but more often than not, these are the best options when it comes to your workout accessories.

  1. Wing Attachment. This piece of equipment will allow you to do all sorts of routines or workouts including chin ups, leg curls, sit ups and military presses. The latter is performed by lying on your stomach, facing the bottom of the machine. This is particularly useful for people who cannot pull off a correct chin up or pull up using an overhead bar. By using a wing attachment, you will be able to perform a pull up or a chin up. This is perfect for any age or weight. (You mixed up your descriptions on this exercise. Military press is the one where you are facing the bottom of the machine. It is equivalent to pressing weight overhead. On a pull up / chin up, you are facing the top of the machine)
  2. Dipping Bar. This is really great for isolating the rear arm muscles, particularly the triceps. This is actually the biggest part of your arms and dipping bars are great for building this. When done properly, the routine can be compared to doing chin ups or pull ups. (I wouldn’t compare the dip to chin ups / pull ups. The muscle groups worked are different since dips are a push movement and chin ups / pull ups are a pull movement) Many women prefer to use this accessory when doing total gym exercises because this is perfect for flabby arms.
  3. Chrome Handles. What kind of handles should you get? It depends on your total gym. These handles, however, are important to many exercises. Typically, you will get rubber handles, but you can choose to get chrome handles instead. The hard rubber, chrome handles are more durable and they offer better comfort.
  4. Pilates Stand. This is one of the best total gym accessories for people who are into Pilates. They can integrate a Pilates routine into their weight training as well. Not everyone uses this accessory, however, but if you are suffering from knee problems, you might want to use this stand and integrate this into your workout.

Mental Health

It would appear that at some point after World War I, real mental health became something of a luxury. The absence of any real mental disease like schizophrenia or dementia certainly is not an indicator of complete mental health any longer. The boom in knowledge of human psychology that began in the 1960s has made that eminently clear.

Truthfully speaking, even basic functionality can no longer be automatically assumed for a human being living in the present age. There are an unprecedented number of Americans and Europeans undertaking psychotherapy today – what started off as a fad now seems to have become a necessity of daily living. The pressures of the rat race are overwhelming. The number of situations and triggers for mental disorders has multiplied significantly. The stress levels are extremely high.

We are, therefore, reduced to defining acceptable mental health in very broad terms. A certain degree of aberration is to be expected in almost every post-modern human being. Reasonable mental health will, therefore, have to be defined by the lack of gross disorders. A good standard for judging this would be the one apparently employed by health insurance companies, who are reluctant to pay for mental disorders that do not result in complete breakdown of normal life for the individual.

The diseases that indicate a major disruption in mental health would today include Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, or a major depressive disorder. Further mental disorders that may or may not be considered as mere a lack of fine tuning by authorities may include obsessive-compulsive disorders, alcohol or drug addiction, or stress-induced nervous breakdown. » Read more: Mental Health

10 Tips to Stay Mentally Healthy

If it’s not broke don’t fix it…right? No! One of the best methods of mental health recovery is to maintain an environment prone to mental health and mental illness recovery. Staying mentally healthy is a way of life, not something you do when things start to go wrong. Keep reading for your top 10 tips to staying mentally healthy! Remember sometimes, the best treatment is prevention.

For access to some great cutting-edge research aside from the tips below, check out the Mental Health Center of Denver’s Research and Evaluation Team’s publications.

1) Stay Physically Active: the human mind developed in an environment requiring one travels the equivalent of 12 miles per day for sheer survival (and no that doesn’t mean jumping in the car and flooring it!). Recent research has proven that increased physical activity can actually create new brain cells (once thought of as a static number), this explains why nearly every mental healthcare consumer at facilities such as MHCD are strongly encouraged to begin an exercise regiment immediately.

2) Stay Socially Active: we are social creatures, thus one’s support network, be it family or friends, is of immense importance to one’s general well being. It is of course ok to take a few nights to yourself, but don’t stay shut in. Go out, keep your social relations strong.

3) Get a Hobby: find something creative outlet that you want to do just for yourself. Depending on what you chose, a hobby can be a great avenue into sports clubs, night classes at a local college, or staying physically active; plus if its something you enjoy it will be much easier to stick with!

4) Be Self-Reflective: you know those few nights a week I said it was ok to just take a night to yourself? Do it! Read a good book, walk your dog, just think things over. Examine where you are in life, where you want to be, and where you’ve come from. Be honest and complimentary to yourself. You are a brave, amazing person, so act like it :)

5) Play: play is actually tremendously important for staying mentally healthy. Devoting time to just having fun can recharge your battery, revitalize your social networks, and reduce stress/anxiety. » Read more: 10 Tips to Stay Mentally Healthy
