Strong Mental Health

Scale of Measurement

What constitutes the mental health of a person? Society has a different way of examining the mental heath of an individual than God does which is a problem because this becomes the standard for life itself when God is the light and life of the world.

The World Health Organization defines mental health as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”

There is no concrete definition ascribe to the word mental health but according to the design of the soul, this statement fits the profile for the souls increase, which God testifies to (Matt 22:37-39). The soul was made by God to increase itself through the expression of faith (love God) and charity (love thy neighbor).

The Design of the Soul

Subconsciously man understands the design and function of the soul but can’t be productive with it without the knowledge of God. This is where the term “honest living” comes from. You increase your self and others at the same time through your profession. You provide for yourself and carry society at the same time through your vocation, job or career.

Society measures mental health in this way but this is not the record which Jesus Christ set for life. It is acceptable to God to function in society by this definition (Luke 20:25), but an abomination to Him when this is the purpose and pleasure of your life. (John 12:25)(Revelation 4:11)

Fallout

If man can project his needs being met then he has rest and peace. As a society we think everything would be better for ourselves if we had a better job, more money, more friends, a better car, a wife, a husband etc. However in most cases these things are not a factor at all because the soul simply can’t be filled with them. (John 4:13)(Matt 4:4) Further more we see both rich and poor unsatisfied with these things of the world when they try to increase with them, which results in extreme to moderate cases such as suicide and boredom. This is evidence of death which is a product of the law of sin.

Not only is this law (sin and death) incompatible with the soul but through it we dishonor God and destroy our neighbor through it’s practice. Man replaced his faith with an aspiration (a power and likeness that rivals God) and charity with his principle (his own truths about that likeness and power) for a boast. » Read more: Strong Mental Health

Group VS Individual Health Insurance: You Do Have A Choice?

If you’re looking at health insurance, you know there are lots of plans out there to choose from. However, there are two definitive types available that sorts health insurance plans into two separate categories: group insurance plans and individual health insurance plans. Determining which type of coverage you want to subscribe to means sorting through all the different factors involved so you can find a plan you can afford that gives you the coverage you need. Which type of policy is going to give you the best health care and which one will you be able to afford?

Individual health care plans are plans that insurance companies sell to individuals and their families that aren’t a part of any particular group. This usually means as long as the doctor, hospital or other medical facility accepts insurance from the company you’re subscribing to, you can go wherever you want to receive medical care. Unfortunately individual plans are usually more expensive than group plans and fewer medical facilities accept those policies. This means that under most circumstances an “individual plan” isn’t what most people will ascribe to.

Group policies, unlike individual insurance plans are designed for larger groups of people to enroll in. Because insurance is based on statistics, becoming part of a group plan means that your overall insurance costs are reduced because the overall costs for a large group will be a known quantity so insurance companies know how to mitigate those costs accordingly. Group policies were initially designed for large corporations and other large groups that required some type of membership in order to be eligible. These have since evolved into two basic types of group insurance plans that anyone can become a part of: HMO’s and PPO’s.

Unlike finding individual health insurance plans, HMO’s or health maintenance organizations will require you to select a primary care physician such as a general practitioner in the program that will oversee your health care. Your initial contact for any health care issue will be through them and they will give you a referral to specialists, hospitals and other health care facilities except in the case of an emergency. This means all your health care needs are managed from a single point.

PPO’s or preferred provider organizations allow you to go to any doctor, specialist or facility in the network. Similar to finding individual health insurance policies where you’re looking for flexibility, these give you the cost benefits of a group policy with a lot more flexibility. There are still restrictions in that you have to find medical care that is a part of the network, but you don’t have the limitation of a primary care provider to manage your health care program. » Read more: Group VS Individual Health Insurance: You Do Have A Choice?

Is there really a connection between bodybuilding and mental health? The answer is yes. Before we get into the details and analyze the facts and the proofs that indicate this connection, we have to see the general connection between sports and mental stability.

More than two thousand years ago the ancient Greeks acknowledged the importance of sports and healthy way of living. They had adopted the mentality that in order to maintain a healthy mind you need to have a healthy body.

This connection between body well-being and mind health went on until the recent years where money and profit invaded the sports community leading to a series of negative things like steroids, drugs, over-training, etc. However, for those who still like to train just for their own health things are much simpler.

Bodybuilding and especially amateur bodybuilding, where the demand for high performance is less, can give you a fit and healthy body, but it can also work as a getaway from your daily stress and routine pressure and help you improve your mental health. Let us see how:

Energy Consumption in a Positive Way

Our modern way of life makes it extremely hard to spend our excessive energy. The great majority of the people works at the office or does a job that gives them few opportunities to actually consume the energy that every individual keeps inside him. Bodybuilding is a very creative way to spend this energy and in the same time improves your looks and of course your health. Scientific studies have shown that people who work out are mentally balanced and clear-minded.

Bodybuilding Is Not Just Weights

Many people wrongly believe that people who are in bodybuilding end up looking like the muscle-monsters on the cover of the magazines. Well, bodybuilding is a lot more than that. It combines weight training, cardiovascular training, fitness, and proper nutrition. So, by following all this you improve your muscular percentage, get rid of fat, increase your physique level and as a result you benefit your mental health. » Read more: Bodybuilding Improves Mental Health
